Winter Guitar Intensive Day Retreat

January 11, 2020 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

This workshop is designed as an immersive experience in guitar playing and practice. This is for players at any level who are very serious about wanting to improve their skills.

I have seen students progress the same amount in one intensive day workshop as they would with 6 months of weekly half hour lessons.

The workshop will start with discussion about each person’s musical goals and interests.
I will talk with each person about their guitar experience and playing. Again, it does not matter what level of playing experience you are at. You only must be highly motivated to get better at playing guitar.

Most players, even at different levels, have similar concepts and techniques they want to improve.

We will start with these commonalities and try some simple exercises together that will help everyone improve in these areas.

We will then break up individually or in groups and do some rigorous & consistent practice for a set duration of time and then regroup and jam together with our new improved skills & confidence.

We will repeat this process throughout the day. The end of the day retreat will be up to you. I will have some choices of topics and activities to explore and we can choose as a group.

Potential Topics:

Chords Chord changes Rhythms Scales Exercises Improvising Techniques - picking, hammer ons, pull offs, slides, bends, vibrato Understanding musical keys and what scale to choose Melodies Recording Fun practice tools- backing tracks, apps, software

There will be a lunch break and snacks and drinks will be available, however, please bring a sack lunch and beverage of your choice.

If you are serious about becoming a better guitar player and are ready please join us!
